IHOP Certificate Programme Completed

Certificate ProgrammeThe Human Rights Defenders Certificate Programme has been completed with a ceremony held in Ankara University Faculty of Political Sciences. Thirty five participants received their certificates after enrolling a ten days programme organised jointly by Human Rights Joint Platform and Ankara University Faculty of Political Sciences Human Rights Centre between 27 August and 4 September 2007.

The programme is aimed to contribute raising awareness in human rights and democratisation issues in Turkey, a mutual information and experience flow, and monitoring problems and developments in the field. The programme was developed to target the participants to have a broader view and knowledge on implementations.

The grave abuses of human rights in Turkey forced the human rights defenders to intensively work in the field and avoided them to get related with the other actors in the field, primarily with the academia. This certificate programme paved the way to empower such relations among actors in the field.

Participants who work in the field had the chance to meet and discuss with academics and experts about theories and implementations in different areas of human rights. Moreover, the participants who represented more than ten organisations and four teen cities around Turkey contributed in development of mutual relations among the organisations in the field.
